Introducing the 11Collection by ICANCHU

We are excited to announce the launch of our men’s leather goods line, the 11Collection

Inspired by Picasso’s series of lithographs Bull 1-11, the 11Collection seeks to strip designs down to their functional essence. Using a single piece of Horween vegetable tanned leather, our Slim Wallet and Essential Case are handmade in Brooklyn using as minimal stitching as possible.

Why?

When a design is made from various pieces of leather these piece have to then be stitched together. Obviously. But what happens is this stitching results in puncturing the leather hundreds of times, compromising the structural integrity, and potential lifespan, of the design. Each piece that is sewn together creates an opportunity for a stitch to bust or a hole to expand.

By creating unique designs of a single piece of leather with minimal stitching, the 11Collection by ICANCHU is guaranteed to be with you for years to come.

About the 11Collection Leather

Our 11Collection designs are made from Horween’s vegetable tanned leather. The Horween Leather Company in Chicago, IL has set the standard for the highest quality leathers since 1905.

Vegetable tanning is a true leather craft, achieved by master artisans. In utilizing the tannic acids naturally found plants and trees (using the barks, branches, leaves and more), vegetable tanned leathers are completely organic materials, rich and deep in natural earthy tones. Veg tanned leathers are responsible for that warm, earthy smell that is associated with leather.

Because vegetable tanning is a natural process, it takes longer to prepare the hides. As a result, finding tanneries willing to - and more importantly capable of - producing are hard to come by. But it is worth the extra cost and effort.

With our minimal stitching and use of the best leather available, our designs are crafted with great durability and strength, growing softer and darker over time. These essentials will be in your family for years to come.
